How often do we all walk around Philly to a market, some bar, resturant, or the office; and are uncomfortably confronted with a homeless person's request for change, thinking "What difference is this going to make?"

Now you can make a difference by coming out to Triumph Brewery in Old City, Philadelphia on November 19, 2009 at 7:30 pm to support Back On My Feet by enjoying great drinks, friends, live music by Saint Mad, $1 raffles for a chance to win iPods, t-shirts, and other great prizes.

My name is Everett Reiss, and I'm running the Philadelphia Marathon and looking to raise $1500 for Back On My Feet (BOMF), a Philadelphia-based non-profit that works with shelters to build confidence, discipline, and self sufficiency in homeless people by taking them on regular early morning runs with teams of volunteers; and then helps them get back on their feet in life beyond the discipline of running.

Event Highlights:

  • Enjoy fresh brewed beer from Triumph's chilled serving tanks to your glass (along with other drinks) with $1 for every drink you purchase going to help the homeless get back on their feet.
  • Great live upbeat acoustic pop/folk music brought to you by Saint Mad who were written up in the Philadelphia Inquirer for their performances on South Street this summer.
  • A chance to win an iPod just by signing up for this event on this site and showing up at Triumph Brewery  on November 19th at 7:30pm WITH your printed ticket (but you don't need a ticket to attend).
  • $1 raffle tickets for chances to win additional iPods, t-shirts, and whatever else I can get local business to donate between now and then.
  • An onsite Twitter contest with prizes.  So get a Twitter ID, bring your smart phone, and learn how to use Twitpic.com.

Everett Reiss on behalf of Back On My Feet (http://www.backonmyfeet.org)

Back on My Feet is a non-profit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of the homeless population by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.

Back on My Feet does not provide food nor does it provide shelter, but instead provides a community that embraces equality, respect, discipline, teamwork and leadership. There are no labels, no stigmas and no stereotypes. At Back on My Feet, all members - regardless of race, education or socioeconomic status - join together to move their own lives forward as well as the lives of their teammates.
